Singapore’s largest Technology-related stocks

  • SGX lists 110 companies that report a percentage of their revenue from Technology according to annual report data compiled from Bloomberg. Among this list of 110, 50 stocks derived 100% of their revenues from Technology.
  • With a combined market capitalisation of S$93.1 billion, these 110 stocks averaged a 2014 YTD total return of 1.2%, bring their average 12-month total return to 1.3%. Of these 110 stocks, 53 have a recent history of distributing dividends and maintain an average indicative dividend yield of 5.1%.
  • The five largest capitalised stocks that report technology revenues and also represent the Technology Sector according to the ICB are Silverlake Axis, STATS ChipPAC, TPV Technology, Centurion Corporation and CSE Global.

Singapore Exchange (SGX) lists 110 companies that report a percentage of their revenue from Technology according to annual report data compiled from Bloomberg. Among this list of 110, 50 stocks derived 100% of their revenues from Technology.

Of these 110 companies, 55 are classified as Technology stocks, 45 are classified as Industrial stocks and the remaining ten are spread among five other sectors according to the Industry Classification Benchmark (ICB). The three largest capitalised sectors include Telecommunications with S$60.0 billion, Industrials with S$20.7 billion and Technology with S$7.5 billion.

With a combined market capitalisation of S$93.1 billion, these 110 stocks averaged a 2014 YTD total return of 1.2%, bring their average 12-month total return to 1.3%. Of these 110 stocks, 53 distribute dividends, currently maintaining an average indicative dividend yield of 5.1%.

The five largest capitalised stocks that report technology revenues and also represent the Technology Sector according to the Industry Classification Benchmark (ICB) are Silverlake Axis, STATS ChipPAC, TPV Technology, Centurion Corporation and CSE Global.

Silverlake Axis provides digital economy software solutions and services to the banking, insurance, payment, retail and logistics industries. Silverlake Axis has a market capitalisation of S$1.9 billion and declined 1.3% in 2014 YTD.

STATS ChipPAC is a service provider of semiconductor packaging design, bump, probe, assembly, test and distribution solutions. It has a market capitalisation of S$771 million and gained 6.1% in 2014 YTD.

TPV Technology is a display solutions provider. It designs and produces a full range of PC monitors and LCD TVs for its distribution worldwide. TPV Technology has a market capitalisation of S$575 million and declined 2.0% in 2014 YTD.

Centurion Corporation, owns and operates dormitory assets, as well as a storage disc manufacturing business. Centurion Corporation has a market capitalisation of S$559 million and gained 34.3% in 2014 YTD.

CSE Global provides integrated industrial automation, information technology and elecommunication solutions to clients globally in the energy, chemical/petrochemical, utilities, water and waste water, healthcare and public sectors. It has a market capitalisation of S$317 million and declined 16.9% in 2014 YTD.

Mr Howie is the Singapore Exchange's Market Strategist - and the key contributor to the educational content and market insights of SGX My Gateway. He is also part of the Associate Faculty at SIM University,  educating students on the fundamentals of investing. 

He previously held lead broking and strategist roles across the Asia Pacific offices of a large international futures broker. Outside of his 15 year career in the financial markets he has also served as the Treasury Adviser to the Leader of the Queensland Liberal Party in Queensland Parliament.

Following High School in Hong Kong, he attended University of Queensland, receiving a Bachelors and Master's degree in Economics, the latter extending into deferred PhD work after receiving the highest grading for first-mover research and modelling conducted on the Shanghai economy.

Mr Howie's other notable achievements include receiving two Hong Kong Securities Institute Outstanding Achievers awards for the 2005 year.
